GRAPHIC DESIGN

I am experienced working with student media organizations and managing creatives, having served as media director director for AMP, UTD's political opinion and satire magazine. Included below are a sample of layouts and designs created during this tenure.

Cover - September 2019

Highlighting the dilapidated state of a local warehouse holding thousands of antique, unsold computer hardware from the 1980s, this cover uses subtle image manipulation to give a shattered effect and draw the reader in.

Feature Spread - September 2019

Sample of the interior spread from the cover story, carrying similar distorted motifs from the cover and blown-up photography to bring visual continuity between cover and story.

Cover - March 2019

Cover story illustrating oil industry executives metaphorically playing chess with the business school by funding ideological think tanks within a public university. Image completed using custom photography and photo manipulation.

Cover - October 2018

Arguing for stronger encryption, this cover uses ASCII art and a recognizable face to draw the reader in through strong imagery.

Feature Spread - December 2018

Feature spread taking inspiration from Andy Warhol to cover the burgeoning topic of quantum computing.

Designer Advertisement

Advertisement produced for the marketing team to help bring new designers on board, ultimately helping double the size of the design team.

Cover - November 2018

Cover story discussing the issues of south asian women and western ideas of beauty and hairlessness. Illustration created with a combination of photo manipulation and digital illustration in Photoshop.

Housing Spread - February 2019

Spread highlighting the dilapidated state of on-capus housing, using simple vector art created in Indesign to compliment the text-heavy layout.

Decentralization Spread - May 2018

Interior spread using simple paper textures to help showcase the ideas surrounding the benefits of a decentralized government.

STYLE GUIDE

During my tenure as art director, I also developed and formalized a new style guide for the magazine. Included in this document are detailed descriptions of branding guides, a redesigned color palette for the magazine, and several templates to aid in the design process.
